Designing for Residents’ Needs First
We began by working closely with township leadership to understand the most common actions residents take when visiting the site. Those key tasks—paying bills, applying for permits, and accessing agendas—are now front and center on the homepage, accessible with a single click. We also created a searchable, department-organized permit library so residents can easily find applications without wading through confusing menus.

The same resident-first approach was applied to each department page. We collaborated with department leaders to establish a clear hierarchy of actions for their pages, ensuring that the most important tasks and information are displayed prominently at the top. This makes navigating to the right place faster and easier for residents.

The new site is visually engaging and fully responsive, so residents can easily complete tasks right from their phone. On the back end, the content management system is intuitive, allowing township staff to make updates quickly without a steep learning curve.
